Ongoing activities in the North-West Russia
Several projects are launched in the framework of the Nordic Council of Ministers Knowledge Building and Networking Programme for the North-West Russia since 2007.
More than ten Nordic–Russian cooperation projects are supported focusing on strengthening social services and health care for vulnerable groups. Cooperation agreement has been signed between the St. Petersburg city government and the Nordic Council of Ministers to enhance cooperation in the fields of social and health, gender equality and prevention of human trafficking. The two-year project between Nordic and Russian authorities, law enforcement bodies, universities and NGOs in the area of protecting intellectual property rights and enhancing related public awareness was realised in St. Petersburg in 2007-2009.
Nordic Council of Ministers promotes cross-border cooperation through the “Baltic Euroregional Network-East” (BEN-East) project co-funded by the EU. The Information office of the Nordic Council of Ministers in St. Petersburg was the Lead Partner of the two-year project between 13 partners in Russia, Belarus and Lithuania (2007-2009).
